[mark_smith]: Today's guest is from Singapore. He's a microsoph Power platform specialist, a Direct Asia insurance. He was first awarded as N V P. and twenty twenty two. He's involved in running the Microsoph user group in Singapore, and you can find links to his bio, Social media, et cetera in the show Notes for this episode, welcome to the show Goloknath.

[goloknath_mishra]: Thank you, Mark. thank you for inviting me to this. So and I'm really privileged to join this So hope we'll have a great conversation.

[mark_smith]: Excellent. Excellent, Tell me you're in a city that I love. I've been to Singapore many many times. I love the street food. I love the international field of the city. I love the roof top bars. I have parted to the wee hours of the morning in that city, and and on Sundays I've gone and had the the bottomless lunches at some of the hotel That are there. so I've you know, I've enjoyed my time in Singapore. What brought you to Singapore? You know, is your family there? What do you do for fun? Especially when it gets really hot. It seems that if you just walk down the street, you know, without grabbing a cab, you can just about melt on the sidewalk. It is so hot and humid there. So what do you do when you're not doing work?

[goloknath_mishra]: Actually. To be honest, Yes, I also like Singapore. Actually, Initially when I moved to Singapore, and when I understand it's feel like India out of India. That's why it's like lot of little India. There is a place I used to go there to have some food and roam around the places. Along with that there are different places in marine navatians, and near by places also to roam around. But basically why I mentioned little India, Because I am Vegetarian by choice.

[mark_smith]: Nice,

[goloknath_mishra]: I can say I'm not vegetating in vegan, so that's very little choice for me to food options. That's there, is the only obsone to go around to have the food spend time with family with my wife, kids and everyone on the weekends.

[mark_smith]: So there's a lot of options right? It's interesting that you call it Little India, because that kind of makes sense to me in the times that I've been out there and I've gone out with other M. Ps. And and the community, it's always been mainly Indian folks that have taken me out. They've taken me to Indian bars, a Indian dance establishments. It's been all very entertaining and and I had never heard it Dis. I like that, but that's that makes sense. Tell me. tell me about. you know the type of area you specialize in with microsoph. What type of technology? What's your key area? What's the? You know? You have obviously been awarded N. v. P. What was it awarded for What's your key skilled area?

[goloknath_mishra]: Okay. So basically, if you ask me my curios, microsodedynamic arm, because I'm basically a dynamic saremicsource, If you ask me, How into dynamics? Actually, I'm in to dynamics by chance, not by choice initially, if you ask me, Because when I joined in one of the company, they are using Dynamics, and so and so I need to learn, and subsequently my journey is started like that, but it's more than Ten years or fourteen years,I will say into dynamics, But when I moved to our platform, when a platform introduced, it came as a low cot platform. Something interesting and that's why, subsequently part platform also came into the picture and onward in to that so you can say go his dynamics here and along with that now or platform also there. the picture.

[mark_smith]: Now you say Cora is dynamic CRM which is the same for me, right? I started with MSSR

[goloknath_mishra]: Correct.

[mark_smith]: back in two thousand and three version, One point two, So that's that's what I started on. But if I looked at all the projects through all those years prior to the Power Platform coming along, If I look at all the details of those projects, I would say only two. three of them were actually customer relationship management solutions. You know, Contact management solutions is that we're used to manage the relationship with the customer. Most of what I saw was us taking that product and building another type of line of business application over your career. What type of line of business applications have Ou seen dynamics turned into? And now the power platform? Of course, you can build directly on it rather than use the Com licensing.

[goloknath_mishra]: Okay. so line of businessmen you want to know the verticals of operation is so. so if you ask me, verticals, let me think from my very scratch. I started with travel and tourism, first, implementation and dynamics. That's in twenty eleven they were using, Then later I moved towards company, where we have projects in health care lament at us government projects, And that's twenty Eleven. one project and another one is twenty thirteen. It's a two projects in health care. Then

[mark_smith]: So if you look at those health care projects, Were they kind of like clinical trials? You're using the system for clinical trials, or was it actually patient relationship management?

[goloknath_mishra]: It's a clinical trials. One is clinical trials, one is Paanreliini, An, it's a product, actually single pace, Develop in twenty thirteen for during that time I remember, there is one company close and tricks. For that, We're working for the single pace. Then, after the health care, I moved towards the Microsopmanis platform. Within that for Windows device sells, When Ose device elements again, and all those products

[mark_smith]: Yes, yes,

[goloknath_mishra]: we can manage During, We can say it's a manufacturing, but it's again within the microscope. That is, that is third and second when the fourth one when I moved to sing, poor singer, poor, I worked in the goverment projects, Then I walked in instunsdoment. Currently I wor commune insurance companies, and in between I worked for Hitagialso Aus.

[mark_smith]: Right.

[goloknath_mishra]: That's also manufacturing projects, and during that time also I implemented for one of the insurance company, So

[mark_smith]: So so the work you did an insurance? was it once again? was it customer relationship management, or was it like claims, or was it insurance originaship? Like what type of area? Because insurance is big in its own right.

[goloknath_mishra]: It's a custom. Yeah, it's a customer relationship.

[mark_smith]: I was in the reason I was in Singapore for work, because the last time I went was not for work were pleasure. My wife was working, but I just tagged along. The prior was was manual life insurance, right, which is big, Singapore, and you know wider in Asia, which are from memory as a Canadian company, But there's lots of different areas. You know. I was even looking at manual life in China. You know at the time. So what what area have you worked in when it comes to insurance with with the Dynamics product?

[goloknath_mishra]: Yeah, one. I worked for the. I will say, I worked for the two insurance products, so in one place I work for customer Three sixty. That means an it, a purely caranapplementation. That is one for one of the clients, And it's a same case, manage ment, and all these processes there, along with that unification of the customers data, because they have different departments and they want to amalgamet to one place so that they can have a holistic view. That's the motive of Sam in one implementation and second implementation. It's purely they have leads right. That's why to get the leads to get the customers to unload them into. In, Seem, is, you can say, Seselemanaement platform. Basically, so this is where the two places what one is service management. You can say as part of Sremisconcrn, second, its sales management, but second one is more into their busies Because they're core of that because they're getting the leads first, then proceeding towards the proposal and policies and all these things. So these are the two implementations so far I worked for instance.

[mark_smith ]: Tell me about then. Now that you know we have the Power platform and you don't have to have you

[mark_smith]: know the the data model, You know. That comes with what? the Arm, which is now sales customer service. What? what did you? are? You building solutions differently now that the Power platform is out than you know before the Power platform came about,

[goloknath_mishra]: Okay, so now the building solution, it's like you know, everything is like model driven. A previously we are into dynamics, and we have to subscribe, and other things. Now everything is more driven up. We create our customer. On top of that we use datavertable whenever required, and accordingly, on top of that we are building all the custom tables, and subsequently the Ap. Also, we built for the business whenever they quire. This is the difference. I noticed, If you ask me high level, Um, and previously, Yes, we have sell serves marketing separately. We used to enable, and accordingly we used to walk, So that is the very high level difference Men, microsopis, trying to put in a single platform so that it's like you have data on data on top of datavers. You can use Canvas, model River, and more driven or something at a river and canvas something it steps on. And even though you can play around combining both also, so it's I will say, the strategy point of view, Also, it's very great initiative. if you think as a product point of to scale it.

[mark_smith]: Tell me about the Singapore community around marks of business applications. How you involved? What's happening? What's what's you know? particularly in the last year what's happened and and how you know? What are you up to?

[goloknath_mishra]: Yeah, so as for a single poor community is concern previously, Yes, that, actually, if I take in this way initially when I was basically not part of the community, if I will consider down the line three four years before, and I remember Give, and they used to organize the events in coming. It in the microscope office. I remember, I used to go in the weekend, So after the office hours to attend, I think most of the time I join in the weekends. it's a full day event. It's like it's really learning a lot of things in the community events and join in the microscropt office. It helps in networking and all the things also, and subsequently I got the interest to be very honest. I got the interest to present inversation and all these things. So this is where we started off, but now you know Scovidis there Due to cover, We are not organizing in Microsorpt office, but still we organizing on virtual. Basically, you can say previously we were organizing monthly, but you know we subsequently got the people. I think you know some scenarios when people got used to, they won't come much. We saw, That is definite reduction in the people joining the stations, and subsequently we moved it one month. So this is how we are now organizing the events, you can say quite, but still were now planning to make it monthly basis, because it's already opened up yet.

[mark_smith]: Is that right? So Ovid's reduced now and gonna go back in person. Nice so much better. How did how did you become to be awarded dure? Vp. What were you doing in? You know that got Microsoff's attention and gave you that award.

[goloknath_mishra]: Okay to, to be very honest, if you ask me, I cannot define any process point of, but I can say what I have done so far and to be the B. P. Initially, I don't have any thought process like I will be M. P. That's why Am doing this when initially, as I mentioned, I was joining the sessions with Giva, and during that time I was just attending the sessions and learning the things in. Sequently. I got the interest. Okay, I will present in the session. So this is where it started all about then later I, I remember, I reached out to dynamics communities. During that time they were organizing different huge events, so dynamic communities and dynamic communities. arainged metting with pressure. Actually, pressure was leading this apparent reason, and even I applied for single pool huge on power platform. Initially during that time porartfrom de Candle introduced because jobs, even where Aldo organized by and sang and I want to start with or platform, and during that time when person also applied for single pool and I also applied for single pool, That's why they told Okay, you guys come together and you planned together, or single part platform. Using this is where the first introduction and first step I can say towards the point of view, And after communigation it press. He really guided me there. a lot of things what need to do, and during that time, initial five, six months had not told me anything that he is guiding me for P. But he told you organized this. You do this, You do that. Really, he guided me, and subsequently we ne to

[mark_smith]: Is this is? this is this person from Australia,

[goloknath_mishra]: Yes, perchance you clavfrom Australia, and then subsequently you remember. I rise out to you. also, If you remember in Lingdnipaing, to you how to be An. That's where you. I saw the vireos in Nbpsos. and it really given me some information. Okay, how to be? So If you asked me what exactly I'm doing First Organizing the events. That's again. It depends on your time and all these things. It's not necessary. I can say monthly. I'm spending hardly one hour or two hours of time. two hours, I will say one hour for the during event on one of our pre events means prepare banner and all these things. So this is what I am doing and second thing, most important, I know to you. Actually, you have to answer the questions in the microsoft communities. That's really helpful and everyone is monetering, even from microsoft. Also, they are monitoring this so you can go and answer the questions. The microscope communities, and then third is Yes. Definitely you can write the blocks that will help you to. You can sing that blocks also into the microsoft community Sport Lvinthough, So this is third option, and fourth is If you have time and bandit, you can create your outubevideos, which I have done. also utubevideos and training meterials. In you, I launched my training course, and you do me also on power to mate, because power to me, Dexter. Actually, during that time thou know it is, there was no training meterials in power outometdexter, so that's why I realize that, but now I can see subsequent lower power to Medexter was there, But initially, when I checked there was no power to metdextrof training, so I launched it free upcast, So this is where actually how you can contribute to the community. Basically, if Contribute to the community and subsequently Microsoptwll, noticed, and they will do. And definitely you need someone to recommend, And Pessurnt helped me to recommend that. And if you, if I say you correctly, what up? And even though recommend, microsof asked me to do more when first time it's got rejected. To be very honest with you, and the second time and Elegerwith helped me to do a recommendation, Uh to the community and subsequently I'm here.

[mark_smith]: Excellent. excellent. I didn't know that you sat under Elizabeth as well, because same as me in New Zealand, very very cool. So for those listening, Elizabeth is the microsoph contact for us around the V P program that is in our geography. Each part of the world is a different geography, of course, but a different person that sits in those geographies and look after the local N. V. Ps. Okay, so so that's that's very interesting. Let's just to wrap up what Best thing about living in Singapore From your perspective.

[goloknath_mishra]: If I say Ou singerpore first is security What I noticed, and definitely cleanliness. and a lot of the peoples are really helpful. And as I mentioned three things, these three things are the topmost from me and forcing my personal point of view. Yes, I can get the footing and everything. It feel like home out of.

[mark_smith]: yeah. it's interesting because you know I worked for a long time in Australia and also worked in a bit in Singapore, And I was looking the other day at a tik tok video because I looked at some tiktok from time to time and it had. What are the rankings from? you know? based on your skill and getting employed in V in various countries around the world, And I thought you know Australia has got a rank really high. You get good income if you live and work in Australia In the business application space, but the number one ranked in the world for the most income Singapore, and of course Singapore have got good tax system as well, right that it's very advantageous the tax system in Singapore. You know if you're working, so yeah, Singapore number one place. If you have busapskills, you get paid the most Apparently for any location in the world.

[goloknath_mishra]: even even for me, one one more important thing is like it is very near to my place. Many place. Basically, that's that's one of the things,

[mark_smith]: How long does it take to fly home to India?

[goloknath_mishra]: hardly five. As if I can start in the evening after office By night I will be at home.

[mark_smith]: exactly.

[goloknath_mishra]: That's the main reason I offer for Singapore because if I off for other places it will be. I can add eight hours, twelve hours that hours. Adition on that. This is one of the thought process.

[mark_smith]: Easy. Awesome. well gone. Thank you so much for coming on the show And it's been good getting to know you and more, and also learn more about what's happening in your part of the world.

[goloknath_mishra]: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for inviting me, Mark.
